This page is for the Lingato language learning app and website (lingato.org), including the Lingato Android app on Google Play.

How to delete your account (secure, in-app)

Only you can delete your own Lingato account, while signed in. Nobody can delete another person’s account from this page.

Open Lingato in the app or at https://lingato.org/
Sign in to the account you want deleted (Sign in
Go to Profile Open Profile
Tap or click Delete my account…
Confirm:
- If your account has a password — enter your password
- Type DELETE in capital letters
- Confirm Permanently delete account

Deletion runs immediately after a successful confirmation. You are signed out and that account can no longer be used.

What data is deleted

When your Lingato account is deleted, we remove from our servers:

Account profile (email, display name, password hash, Google sign-in link if any)
Sign-in sessions (you are logged out everywhere)
Study and progress data tied to the account (activity, streaks, points totals on the account)
League / expedition membership and related per-user competition rows
Other personal records stored for that user id in the Lingato database

What data may be kept

On your device only — theme, language prefs, or guest progress in browser/app storage. Clear site data or uninstall the app to remove those locally. We cannot erase another device for you.
Anonymous analytics — first-party page-view stats that are not linked to your account may remain for up to about 13 months, then are pruned (see the Privacy Policy).
Legal, security, or payment records — we may keep a minimal record that a deletion occurred, or data we must retain for law, fraud prevention, or accounting. Google Play purchase/order data is held by Google, not as your Lingato login profile.
Backups — deleted account data may exist briefly in encrypted backups until those backups rotate (typically within 30 days) and is not used to restore your account.

If you cannot sign in

If you are locked out of the account, email a deletion request from the same email address registered on the account:

Include the account email and a clear request to delete the Lingato account. We verify ownership before deleting (usually within 30 days). This path is only for people who cannot use the in-app flow; it is not a way to delete someone else’s account.

Guest users (no account)

If you used Lingato without registering, there is no server account to delete. Clear the site’s local data in your browser, or uninstall the Android app, to remove device-local data.

Google Play purchases

Deleting your Lingato account does not automatically refund a paid app purchase. Billing is handled by Google Play — see Google Play purchase support.
